Although the exchange will evolve as it heads towards its pilot phase, it is intended to have the following areas of focus:

Venture stage: the exchange should provide a portal for early stage to mature social ventures (venture capital; growth capital; stable equity)

Venture scale: the scale of firms will vary from social venture small cap ($50,000) to social venture large cap ($50 million plus).

Geography: initial development will focus on Ontario, with a plan for second phase of growth moving outwards to become a hub for Canada and North America.

Venture types: innovative non-profit and for-profit social ventures

Priority investment areas: the exchange will initially focus on investments in the environment, poverty reduction and education.  Moving forward, the market (ventures and investors) will determine parameters as it evolves.

Investors: the investor target group will include retail investors, institutional investors, venture capitalists, pension funds, and foundations.
